VMA abole divisão de gêneros e cria categoria de "luta contra o sistema"

A próxima edição do MTV Video Music Awards, um dos prêmios mais importantes da música, não terá categorias divididas por gênero. O VMA divulgou nesta terça (25), junto da lista de indicados e categorias deste ano. Os prêmios de melhor cantor e cantora foram substituídos por um único, de melhor artista.

Outra novidade de 2017: há uma nova categoria, de "melhor luta contra o sistema", que abarcas músicas com discurso engajado e de transformação social. "Immigrants (We Get the Job Done)”, trilha do musical "Hamilton", “Light”, de Big Sean, e "Surefire", do cantor John Legend, estão entre as faixas indicadas.

O rapper Kendrick Lamar pulou na frente no VMA com oito indicações. Atrás dele vêm Katy Perry e The Weeknd, ambos com cinco.

Lamar, Bruno Mars, Alessia Cara, DJ Khaled e The Weeknd concorrem na principal categoria, a de vídeo do ano.

A premiação será transmitida no dia 27 de agosto pela MTV Brasil, a partir das 21h.
